Loving our Liver for Detox
For optimal hormone balance it’s essential for our body to be able to detox and excrete the excess hormones we don’t need.
Our liver is responsible for gathering up excess estrogen & getting it ready for excretion through our bowel movements.
So how can we support this process?
*Lessen the burden on the liver—aka help it not have to work so hard.
-limit sugar intake, especially added sugars
you’ll want to check your food labels for this one; sugar is hidden in a lot of products we wouldn’t suspect like salsa, spaghetti sauce, ketchup, etc.
-cut out alcohol
when we consume alcohol our liver’s job is to focus on clearing out the toxins from alcohol & everything else (hormones included) goes on the back burner until this job is complete.
-reduce consumption of inflammatory fats
vegetable oil, canola oil, peanut oil
*Love on your Liver
-consume liver supporting foods
broccoli, leafy greens, grapefruit, green tea, turmeric, garlic, brussels sprouts
organic vegetables are ideal
3-6 cups of veggies daily
-consume high quality proteins
grass fed beef, organic chicken, pasture-raised eggs, wild caught fish
-consume healthy fats
avocados, chia seeds, coconut oil, olives
-stay hydrated
you should consume half your body weight in ounces of water daily & don’t forget your electrolytes!
-start swapping beauty & household items for “cleaner” versions
i love beauty counter, native, & toms brand for self care items
*Get in 30mins of movement daily & break a sweat
movement does not equal exercise……exercise is important, but you should not be working out every day. 3-4 days per week is great. Going for a walk on the days you aren’t working out will be perfect for this! Bonus points if it’s outdoors.
