I’m a planner, always have been, likely always will be. That means that in the weeks leading up to our week long vacation 9hrs from home, I did a lot of researching, thinking, and planning to try to make this trip as enjoyable and smooth sailing as possible. We have never flown with our kids before and given that our destination was only 9 hours away (I know, only right?) we decided that having our vehicle for the week was more…

I have struggled with poor gut health for the past 10+ years since having my gallbladder removed at age 19. Over the years this has looked like lots of stomach cramps, diarrhea, and periods of constipation. All of which left me constantly feeling bloated, uncomfortable, and anxious about eating when I was away from home (& away from a bathroom). I was originally told that since my gallbladder had been removed, it was likely higher fat containing foods that was triggering…

A couple weeks ago I was shopping for a friend’s baby shower. I’m the type of person that loves to give a practical gift…..I’m not the friend that buys your kiddos a toy (because I know they already have a roomful of them that they don’t play with), I’m…

Help…I’m Having Trouble Losing Weight
Losing weight can be a frustrating task; you think you’re doing all the right things, but the scale just won’t budge. Why? Using the wrong approach Eating like a bird all day will do you NO favors. Consistently eating in a calorie deficit causes your body to go into protector mode. Your body doesn’t understand the difference in ‘there’s not enough food for us to eat’ and ‘I’m not eating as much because I want to lost weight’. Your body thinks you are literally starving to death, therefor it will SLOW DOWN your metabolism and hang on tight to stored fat as an attempt to save your life. Doing the…

These two episodes were a Q&A with the hosts, below were my key takeaways: Bone broth– use any way you like to get benefits. Drink it alone, cook with it, use it in soups/stews. PoopDo you struggle with irregular bowel movements and want to know what to do? Engage your parasympathetic nervous system before meals: take 3 deep breaths when you sit down for your meal. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, breathe out for 8 seconds. Take deep breaths randomly throughout the day. Get…

How To Become A Foster Parent (In Kentucky)
The approval process to become a foster parent is not difficult, but it can be lengthy & time consuming. The following are the steps Blake & I took to become an approved & open foster home (there may be new steps/requirements that I’m unaware of). I found it difficult to find information online on how to become a foster parent in our area, what was required, who to contact, and when trainings were offered. I recommend locating & calling your local DCBS office for direction/information. OR if you know someone that is a social worker or works for a foster care agency, they can be a wonderful resource. Attend an…
